Eriksen keen on Dortmund move

Borussia Dortmund have been given a boost in their pursuit of Christian Eriksen with the Ajax player saying "a charismatic coach" is important to him.

Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is not only highly regarded for his coaching ability but also for his extrovert character on the touchline and with the media.

Following the sale of Mario Gotze to Bayern Munich and potential departure of Robert Lewandowski, Champions League runners-up Dortmund are in the market for reinforcements this summer.

And Eriksen has told Danish news outlet Sporten.dk that he would welcome a move to a side with a coach he can have a healthy professional relationship with.

"Jurgen Klopp seems like a really good coach and a great person. It can be the difference for me to get a charismatic coach with a tendency to use younger players," he said.

"It is the coach who chooses the team so it is important for me to play for a coach who I can trust and who you can build a good relationship with."

The Denmark international was keen to test himself in Primera Division but claims that is no longer the case.

"That has changed. I wouldn't mind playing in Spain if there was something interesting there for me but I might try a different league first."

Eriksen, reportedly a target for Liverpool, says he has no preference between a move to the Bundesliga or the Premier League, insisting the style of football is of more importance to him.

"They are two very different leagues but they are also very alike," he said. "The German league is on its way up where the English league is now. So I won't prefer one before the other. And it also rains equally much in Germany as it does in England.

"The most important thing is to do what I feel is right. My next club has to express that they really want me.

"I have to feel that it is the right place and then their style of play has to fit me. I can't play in a club that prefers to play with long balls."

Bayern celebrates treble in Munich

Bayern Munich did not let the weather dampen its spirits as it paraded its three titles to its fans.

The rain which has fallen over Munich almost without exception since February did not want to make way for Bayern's treble-winning party in the city's central Marienplatz, but temperatures as low as seven degrees proved no deterrent for around 20,000 fans.

"Not only do we have a world class team, but we also have world class fans," said coach Jupp Heynckes on his penultimate public appearance as Bayern coach, his last coming on Tuesday when he announces his future plans at a press conference in the city.

"Without fans like you, we would never have been able to achieve what we have done."

Heynckes, parading the UEFA Champions League trophy won in London a week ago alongside the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal, was also able to make good on a promise he made over two decades ago.

"I stood on this balcony in 1990 and, rather cockily, promised you the European Cup," he said.

"Well today I'm delivering on my promise: here is the Champions League."

It was the Bayern players' second appearance on the balcony of the city hall this northern summer, the first of which took place after its final home Bundesliga game of the season.

It returned with two more trophies, the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, parading an historic maiden treble in the history of German football.

Higuain confirms Madrid exit plan

Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain has confirmed he will leave the club this northern summer.

The Argentina international scored the opener as Madrid saw off Osasuna 4-2 on the final day of the Primera Division season but revealed afterwards his 122nd goal for Los Merengues would be his last.

He is widely expected to join Juventus in the coming weeks, although confirmation of his availability is sure to attract the interest of a host of elite clubs.

"I feel that my time here has come to an end and I want a change of scenery. I have experienced seven intense, tough and happy years here," the 25-year-old told reporters

"It was a decision I have been thinking about for some time. It's tough, it wasn't easy to make, but I will go to another club to seek new challenges.

"My family have suffered a lot too. It's a decision the club and me took together, and I hope it's for the best."

Despite his fine scoring record since joining Madrid in January 2007 from River Plate, Higuain has not always enjoyed a good relationship with either fans or coaches, and was booed during the second leg of Madrid's UEFA Champions League semi-final loss to Borussia Dortmund at the end of April.

"I am not going because I was booed," he added. "In seven years this is the first time I have been booed. There are other reasons, but I'm not going to reveal them.

"I have stayed here for seven years and that is for a reason. I equalled the record of a legend like Juanito by becoming the 16th greatest goalscorer in the history of the club.

"No one has given me anything for free, I've had to work my guts out. I leave here happy with the goals I've scored and I managed to get the fans on my side and sing my name."

Pressed on his future, he added: "I haven't decided where I am going.

"There have been offers from Juventus, but I honestly don't know where I'll go.

"I want to go to a club that really believes in me and where I will be happy."

OFFICIAL: Falcao joins AS Monaco

AS Monaco have confirmed the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao.

The Colombian passed a medical at the newly-promoted Ligue 1 club on Thursday after the French club met his release clause of €60m.

The move is a huge coup for Monaco, who have vast financial backing despite their lowly status, having only just been promoted to Ligue 1 this season. The move comes after the club also completed the signings of Falcao's international teammate James Rodriguez and Joao Moutinho, both from Porto.

Spending is expected to continue for the club, who are also rumoured to be close to completing a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes as they attempt to put together a squad capable of qualifying for the Champions League and challenging the likes of Paris Saint-Germain in France.

Atleti will now face the daunting prospect of replacing the Colombian, who was key to an excellent La Liga campaign for the club this season, as he scored 28 goals in just 34 games.

Suarez may be ‘forced’ to leave Liverpool

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez has admitted that he would find it difficult to turn down a move to Real Madrid, claiming he was not prepared to put up with the criticism from the press any longer.

Suarez claimed in an interview with Uruguayan radio station sport 890 that the treatment he has received from the press this season has affected his family and may force him to leave the Merseyside club.

The striker also confirmed that he has spoken to Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers, and the manager knows what he wanted.

The 26-year-old will miss the first six games of next season as he serves the remainder of a ban for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic. This is the second lengthy ban he has faced after being forced to miss 8 games after being convicted of racially abusing Patrice Evra.

Speaking to 890 Sport, Suarez said: “I’ve worked hard since childhood to get where I am and I keep getting constant criticism from the English press. It makes me tired. Liverpool want me to stay, but do not know what will happen. It would be difficult to say no to Real Madrid.”

Suarez said Liverpool had treated him well and he had “only words of thanks for the fans”, and added: “So far I have not received any official offer from Madrid.”

He continued: “I have a contract with Liverpool, but it would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid. There are a lot of rumours in the transfer period, but you never know until firm offers are made.”

He added: “I’ve talked to the coach (Rodgers), and he knows what I want. He was a player. Some of the players understand my situation – enough said.”

I'm taking a short break from blogging as the end of the school year's madness is drawing closer (less than 2 weeks away!). I thought I could stay on top of everything, but I can't so I'm going to take a step back. I hope to be back to my regular blogging schedule once everything settles down, which I expect to be on  June 14, 2013. Thanks for your patience and hope to see you all soon!

Liverpool leading Atsu chase

Liverpool are leading the race to sign Porto winger .

Sky Sports revealed earlier this week an unnamed Premier League club had tabled a bid for Atsu and it is understood that Liverpool are the team in question.

Talks are thought to be continuing between the Reds and Porto as Brendan Rodgers' side look to win the race for the Ghana international.

However, Liverpool could face competition from Premier League rivals Everton and Arsenal for the highly-rated attacker.

Everton are thought be interested in Atsu especially if current Porto boss Vitor Pereira replaces David Moyes at Goodison Park, while Arsenal are also keeping tabs on the African's situation.

Atsu has found himself out of favour at Porto in recent months after refusing to sign a new deal at Estadio do Dragao.

The 21-year-old, who sees his current contract expire next summer, has continually rejected offers to extend his deal due to Porto's insistence to try and increase his release clause to €30m (£24million).

Atsu, who has previously expressed his desire to play in England, is expected to make a decision on his future once he plays for Ghana in their upcoming games against Kenya, Sudan and Lesotho next month.
