Sagna in talks on new Arsenal deal

Arsenal defender Bacary Sagna has confirmed he is in talks to extend his contract, but he has not ruled out a return to France.



Sagna, 30, is entering into the final season of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, and so could become a free agent this time next year and agree a lucrative Bosman transfer.



Big-spending pair Paris St Germain and Monaco are said to be monitoring the situation, but former Auxerre defender Sagna, who has twice recovered from broken leg, hinted he would be happy to stay on at Arsenal if an agreement can be brokered.



Speaking to L'Equipe, Sagna said: "There are [talks], but I still haven't extended my contract. "I am talking, and I am not at a bad club either." When asked whether he could return to play in France, Sagna, who is currently on international duty, added: "It is possible. "We would have to see in which conditions and, in sporting terms, what they propose. I won't go just anywhere. "If I stay at Arsenal, I will try to have a good season, there's the World Cup at the end of it. "If I am to leave, it will be a new challenge."

Lloris: No need to fear Spain

France captain Hugo Lloris says his side should have no fear when facing World Cup holders Spain in their Group I top-of-the-table clash on Tuesday.

France have only lost one of their eight competitive encounters with Spain (EURO 2012 1/4 finals).

France go into the game two points ahead of Spain with the opportunity to extend their lead at the Stade de France following their opponents' disappointing 1-1 draw with Finland on Friday.

France had no such problems with a 3-1 win over Georgia and Tottenham goalkeeper Lloris does not feel Les Bleus should change their approach against the side who beat them 2-0 at Euro 2012.

He said: "It doesn't change the way we'll be going into the game.

"We know how good Spain are and they are able to come here to win."

France face Spain following a win inspired by goals by Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Valbuena and Franck Ribery at home to third place Georgia.



Another win for France on Tuesday would leave Spain facing a potential play-off to reach the World Cup finals in Brazil.

Pogba and Varane named in France squad

Teenagers Raphaël Varane and Paul Pogba have been rewarded for their form respectively by being named in the France squad.



Didier Deschamps admitted this week that the 19-year-old was on his radar and he has been selected in his latest party.



It is the first time that the midfielder has been picked at full international level.



Rod Fanni has been called up to the France squad for the World Cup qualifying games against Georgia and Spain after Mathieu Debuchy was ruled out injured, coach Didier Deschamps said on Monday.



France play Georgia and Spain on March 22 and 26.
