Alexis Sánchez's agent, Fernando Felicevich, confirmed the news to MARCA and had to reassure the Chilean's fans. Footage of the Barcelona player's car showed signs of the forward's violent crash on the C-32 road.
The player walked away unscathed after his car crashed into the road's protective barrier and skidded along it for over 100 metres. He then left the vehicle on the roadside before one of his teammates picked him up and drove him to Gavá, where he lives. They did not report the accident to the authorities.
The footballer told the officers who visited him afterwards at his house that he was unsure what had caused his car to leave the road, although everything points to him exceeding the permitted speed limit.
